27 inches

Last time we thought we had seen The Snowstorm. In the middle of December 23 inches fell in a day and a half.

Washington DC shut down for days. At night bulldozers and dumptrucks would line the streets, trying to move out enough snow to clear the roads and sidewalks. School was closed for the next four days and would have been closed longer if not for the scheduled winter break.

This time it snowed 27" in a day.

More is on the way. We are forecasted to get another 10-20" in the next few days. I am guessing there won't be school at all this week. Bad timing, as this is Pavlina's turn to be Star of the Week at preschool. Parents make a poster of pictures about their child, bring her favorite treats to share and read favorite stories to the class. She doesn't seem too disappointed. Thanks to Gammy's gift of snowpants she is having a blast. Pav would play in the snow all day, if we would let her. I must admit to loving it myself. If you can overlook the inconvenience of a storm of this magnitude there is a lot of drama and beauty to be seen.
